What was your inspiration for this project?

Our clients came to us with an already well-developed color palette that embraced both natural tones and a bold, fun energy. Being in the high desert, it was exciting to draw from the colors we see on the surrounding mountains every day and bring that sense of place into the home.

What was your greatest challenge?

The kitchen began as a relatively small space with an awkward 1950s layout that limited both flow and functionality. One of our biggest challenges was reimagining how the space could better serve the home while still feeling cohesive. By thoughtfully reorganizing the layout, and borrowing a bit of square footage from a nearby living room closet, we were able to open up the kitchen, improve circulation, and create a more functional, inviting connection to the living space while minimizing the narrow hallway.

What were you most proud of / excited about?

It’s pretty common for our projects to include white as a foundational element, but this one was a departure in the best way – there wasn’t any white specified at all. Even the neutral walls were a soft, buttery yellow, which set the tone for a warmer, more playful palette throughout the home. Not every project calls for bold color, and that’s part of what makes each one unique, but having the opportunity to fully embrace it here was especially exciting. Seeing all of those colors come together in a cohesive, livable way was something we were really proud of.
